Permissible Use Descriptions – GLBA & DPPA

Federal law, in conjunction with your Terms of Service User Agreement, requires that you have a permissible use to order the reports and personal information offered on our website. The applicable laws governing these uses are the Drivers' Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) and related state laws and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). If you do not have a permissible use and do not check the box stating that you have read and understand the Permissible Use descriptions, you will not be given access to ordering from our site.

Below are examples of Permissible Uses for ordering reports from our website. Civil Investigation Agency is supplying a list of possible lawful uses. However, by compiling this list and supplying the information to website visitors, CIA is not providing any legal advice, and the access to and the information provided on this list should not be construed as such. CIA suggests that you consult your own attorney/legal counsel for advice on whether your use of this data complies with the GLBA.

USE BY PERSONS HOLDING A LEGAL OR BENEFICIAL INTEREST RELATING TO THE CONSUMER

For use by persons, or their representatives, holding a legal or beneficial interest relating to the consumer.

  • Child support enforcement

  • Locate beneficiaries and heirs

  • Locate shareholders

  • Locate pension beneficiaries

  • Due diligence research on potential or existing customers or applicants

  • Due diligence research on potential or existing vendors
